The design concept of these new Jordans are over two decades in the making and were coined from a popular 1992 commercial by a food and beverage company called Gatorade. In a bid to pay homage to NBA legend Michael Jordan, the sports-themed manufacturer came up with the Gatorade advertisement that featured some of Jordan’s high-class dunking coupled with a special jungle book inspired song called “Be like Mike” that was born from the original “I wanna Be Like You”.
