Air Jordan 12 GS Chinese New Year
Release Date:January 28, 2017
To start off, the shoes follow the universally loved Air Jordan 12 silhouette. This form is characterized by the curvaceous vertical lines running from the top to the bottom of the shoes, creating additional planes, texture, and depth to what would have been an ordinary surface. The soles are also unique in that they seem to merge with a portion of the trim.
For the CNY GS release, Nike decided to go with a soft white color with a hint of pink. Images show what appears to be a very slight hue of pink on the white, creating the illusion that you’re seeing something ‘white’ but not really. It’s a tough color to describe, making it one of the more interesting hues today.
The rest of the shoes, however, are a little easier to describe. Red accents can be seen on the edges of the shoes with metallic gold buckles placed at the top for that additional splash of clash. The tongue is kept white in color with Chinese symbols on the center. Want to know what they mean? They’re actually the number “12” in Chinese – which is a great way of incorporating the culture of the holiday they’re celebrating with.
The soles are kept white with what appears to be two different materials used. One while is a little coarser as expected of soles; the other layer is smoother in texture. Flip up the shoes and you’ll find the Jumpman logo in its resplendent red glory. From the back, you can see the number 23 which is done in red. There’s also a little bit of white engraving on the heel portion spelling JORDAN but sadly, not that obvious.
All in all, the Air Jordan 12 GS Chinese New Year is an excellent buy for kids who are more than eager to show off their presents a little later after Christmas. The kicks will sell for $160 through all Air Jordan stores on the 28th of January, 2017. No need to fret – although the shoes are in celebration of the Chinese New Year, they will be available in other countries – not just China.
