The month of the said “Rare Air” AJ1s is just around the corner and the anticipation of when the new pair of kicks will be released has made Jordan heads talking. But talk no more. July is here and if rumors serve right, the big date for the release of the Air Jordan 1 Rare Air using a Black/Varsity Red-White colorway is set around the third week of July.
So far, it was from Sneaker News where we get our first and best look of the soon-to-be released Air Jordan 1 Rare Air. Just like the typical colorway of the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago”, the colorway combination of Black/Varsity Red-White of the Rare Air is reminiscent of the Chicago-inspired colors. However, instead of the Varsity Red and White which dominates the Chicago AJ1s, the Rare Air AJ1s uses a minimum on both colors and is more enhanced with the patent black leather dominating the shoes’ upper.
One of the most prominent features of the new Air Jordan 1 Rare Air sporting the Black/Varsity Red-White colorway is the absence of the typical Air Jordan “Wings” on the ankle replaced with a bold font text of “Air Jordan” instead. Though other might look at the design as something new, it was actually a nod to selected and very early editions of Air Jordan 1s from the very first time it was released in the middle of 1980s. Another unique feature of the Rare Air AJ1s are its tongue tags which are removable revealing a “Rare Air” text from underneath its place which is resonant of the latest Air Max celebration pack from Nike.
At a first glance, the look of the Rare Air AJ1 is similar to that of the AJ1 Retro High. On the other hand, the black-based leather upper of the shoes was furthermore accentuated with the vibrant red Swoosh and white outsole. The Rare Air AJ1s also features a textile along the shoes’ collar.
Whether it’s really “rare” or the name is just something to remember it by, the limited release of the Air Jordan 1 Rare Air Black/Varsity Red-White edition is something to watch out for. Stay tuned for more updates on the official date issue of this pair of kicks as it becomes available on selected Jordan Brand stores worldwide.
