Quick Historical Glimpse
It was in 2004 when executives from Nike Global Brand Presentations and Doernbecher Foundation along with a young boy were in talks about raising some money for the Children’s Hospital. So top designers were summoned to visit the hospital for an inspiration to design the sneakers for the auction. One of the designers, in the person of Marcus Tayui, had a vision of letting artistic patients work their wonders on selected pairs of AJ shoes. Isn’t it interesting to unleash the creativity of these kids along with their inspiration in their pieces of artistic work?
Patient-designers are being chosen every year based on the strength of their character and personality skills. This year, another six have been chosen to transform Nike sneakers into vibrant masterpieces to be launched in October for an auction. The rest of AJ enthusiasts may get a share of the exhibits in November when they go public.
