The Jordan release dates 2016 seem to be all set, especially this summer. But aside from their Olympic-inspired sneakers, long-forgotten OGs, and City Pack installment, Jordan Brand will be releasing another much awaited retro – the Air Jordan 12 “Gym Red.”
Air Jordan 12
Release Date:July 2, 2016
The retro release of the AJ12 looks like it’s a remake of the earlier Mike Bibby PE. What makes the Gym Red AJ12 like a remix of Mike Bibby’s is that it will return with the black lining minus the Team Dime-inspired embroidery. Of course, this move from Jordan Brand is nothing new. They did it with another release on a Jordan 5 Low “Alternate” which looks like a comeback of another PE by Derek Anderson.
A month earlier, the Gym Red AJ12 was dubbed the “Varsity Red” on Sneaker News. Something that is not much of a surprise given the splash of the Chicago Red colorway on the upper.
As an Air Jordan 12, there’s the asymmetrical mudguard inspired by the rising rays of the sun as seen on the Japanese flag. What Jordan Brand did though is that they made use of the Gym Red colorway to dominate the shoes upper. It’s the same premium tumbled leather that they also used with other Air Jordan 12 shoes. The overlays with its textured detailing are very much obvious and the Black insole of the shoes atop the full White outsole and parts of the mudguard made for a very interesting and clean combination. The overall look of the new Air Jordan 12 release looks like the traditional shoes from the same collection but with its colors flipped.
Other additions on the shoes include the lace eyelets done in metallic rate. Admit it or not, Jordan Brand definitely has luxury in mind when they made this addition. There’s also the famous brandings all from Jordan Brand. On the side between the midsole and the leather upper is a strip of white with the word “Jumpman” instead of the actual branding. The heel tab seems to take most of the branding with a little white Jumpman on top, the word Jordan stitched into the length of the heels and MJ’s number on the lower part. Another black Jumpman branding sits on the outsole and there’s the customary Jumpman and Two3 on the tongue.
For fans and sneakerheads interested with the pair, you should mark your calendar on July 2nd since it will be the official Jordan release date for the Air Jordan 12 Gym Red. The retail price for this pair would be $190.
