No doubt about it, the Air Jordan 12 collection of Jordan Brand is one of their best from one of basketball’s greatest player ever. Since its debut in 1997, the AJ12s continued to rise in fame as new releases came into the market with a few pieces going exclusive.
Air Jordan 12
Color:Wolf Grey/University Blue-White
Release Date:June 25, 2016
This coming summer, Jordan Brand will release another retro comeback after their first in 2004 – the Air Jordan 12 UNC.
As it is, UNC fans will definitely get an opportunity to feel positive and glad even after a tough championship game. Why not, the most recent release of the Air Jordan 12 will sport the UNC’s team color of Carolina Blue, Cool Grey, with a touch of White and a darker shade of blue.
Late this March, Sneaker News revealed that Jordan Brand will be busy with their Jordan releases 2016, especially with a number of Air Jordan 12s in succession. Fans and sneakerheads can expect the return of French Blue, Flu Game, and of course, the UNC which will release late this June.
What makes the retro return of the AJ12 UNC quite iconic is that it’s a kind of tribute to the University of North Carolina which happens to be Michael Jordan’s alma mater.
At a first glance, the combination of the light and dark blue accents, white splashes, and muted grey base makes for a clean look for the pair. Of course, the shoes also follow the classic make of the Air Jordan 12s with the mix of carbon fiber, Zoom Air, premium leather, and the rising sun-design inspired by the flag of Japan with its rays.
Up close, the summer release of the AJ12 is mostly dressed in Wolf Grey and White color scheme. The touch of light blue can be seen on the accents and branding placed all throughout the shoes while there are also the hints of silver on the eyelets and the use of Navy/Obsidian Blue color on the insole and back heel.
What makes the pair quite different from other Jordan 12s is that its upper construction is a pairing of leather and nubuck with the tonal design of the white and wolf grey typical of the AJ12s. The Jumpman branding can be seen on the tongue, the heels, and the shoe’s outsole. There’s also the JORDAN name running the length of the heels and MJ’s number, 23 on the lower part. A white outsole finishes the look of the shoes with some hints of light blue and Wolf Grey design underneath.
