After its stylish comeback in high fashion, the Air Jordan 9 Retro Low is back this May with a vivid color of “Black Mango”.
Last April, the Air Jordan 9 in its low form went back on the shelves. Riding on high fashion, the pair definitely wowed fans and sneakerheads with its luxurious design especially with the addition of snakeskin mudguard and the classical Chicago-inspired colorway of Black, Red, and White.

Early this year, Sneaker News revealed the comeback of the Air Jordan 9 in its awaited low form. As part of the Jordan releases 2016, the AJ9 Low is no doubt one of those sneakers that made history. It is because while Tinker Hatfield was designing and creating the model for the Air Jordan 9 Low, it is also the same time when Michael Jordan took a hiatus from basketball to pursue his baseball career.
Just as well, the low Air Jordan 9s were the ninth signature shoes of MJ and it has been more than 14 years since fans have seen an AJ9 in low form. After releasing the “Snakeskin” later on known as the “Bred” AJ9 Retro Low, Jordan Brand has decided to come up with more Air Jordan 9 Lows for their Jordan releases this 2016.
As a Player Exclusive, the Air Jordan 9 Lows are pretty famous. MJ had never worn the shoes while he was playing for the Chicago Bulls but Mike Bibby and Derek Anderson definitely gave the collection its reputation of being good on the feet. The best news of all is that the Air Jordan 9 Low Bright Mango will be available on retail and it’ll definitely turn heads with its bright neon color.
The pair will release on the first Saturday of next month, May 7 for a price of $170. The combination of the Bright Mango and Hasta-Ghost Green colorway is perfect for a blazing colorway that is all Jordan-Brand.
Instead of premium leather, the shoes use a bright red synthetic leather upper. The Black tongue and laces, and Hasta-Ghost Green accents throughout the shoes provided a break for the eye-searing color of the upper.
Up close, the brandings of the shoe are also very notable given their vivid color differences. The words “Air Jordan” dressed in Ghost Green are stitched against the black tongue. There’s also the Black Jumpman branding on one side of the shoes and the outsole. On the back heel is the Ghost Green globe branding which is a nod to Michael Jordan’s evolution to becoming a worldwide phenomenon especially in the league of basketball with the number 23 stitched right below it.
