There’s no doubt about it; the Air Jordan 5 collection is one of Tinker Hatfield’s genius silhouettes for Jordan Brand. Aside from their high quality elements, the World War 2 aircraft is the inspiration behind the AJ5 silhouette and is one of the highly praised collections from the Jordan series.
Air Jordan 5 Low GS
Release Date:April 9, 2016
This April, Jordan Brand will release yet another pair for its smaller fans – the Air Jordan 5 Low GS.
Just last year, Sneaker News posted a list of Air Jordan shoes in men’s sizes that most fans would like to see in smaller sizes – mainly for women and kids. That wish would come true today with one of Jordan releases 2016 made for the grade school fans of Jordan Brand.
The newest Air Jordan 5 Low GS dubbed as the “White/Wolf Grey” looks very similar to the much larger and previous release of the AJ5 Metallic Silver from 2007. Nevertheless, the latter was a women’s release anyway so Jordan Brand just had to keep the sizes a few times smaller to accommodate their grade school wearers.
As it is, the GS pair sports a simple and clean look overall thanks to its color combination of White tumbled and smooth leather upper with Black highlights and hints of Wolf Grey on the shoes. There’s also the addition of some mesh netting on the upper, the flames aesthetic, the 3M tongue, and the translucent outsole.
On a closer inspection, the pair revealed a buttery white leather upper instead of the clean white of the Metallic AJ5. The mesh netting on the side of the shoes give it more breathability while the shark teeth or flames aesthetic found on the midsole which looks silvery from afar is actually done in Wolf Grey speckled with White. The outsole is also a combination of an icy blue translucent outsole and some hints of black for contrast. Jordan Brand also added a clear and translucent lace lock wherein another Jumpman logo lies. You really have to look closely or feel the branding to see it though because of its transparent color.
From above, the Black Jumpman branding on the Wolf Grey tongue and white insole stands vivid and bright against its lighter backdrop. There’s also another Black Jumpman stitched on the heels of the shoes. From below is the combination of the Black, White, and icy outsole. There’s another Jumpman logo right under the toe box while the Jordan name is scripted on the black section of the outsole.
Originally, the Air Jordan 5 Low GS was set for release on March 26. However, it seems that Jordan Brand decided to move the release for two more weeks yet. That is, the shoes will officially become available for retain on April 9 for $120.
