There’s no doubt that among Michael Jordan’s shoes, the very first Air Jordan 1s are the sneaker that made the greatest impact. Since their launching in 1985, Air Jordans have become a testament of high performance in the court and later on became an icon for Jordan fans. Through the years, Air Jordan 1s has taken on various designs and styles but there’s one piece that always – and always – stand out: the very first and original silhouette of Air Jordan 1.
Air Jordan 1 Low OG Chicago
Release Date:February 14, 2016
Last year, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG has made a triumphant comeback on the shelves for Jordan Brand’s most notable shoes. Now, the official Jordan release of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG Chicago has been confirmed and early pictures are taking over the sneaker arena. It was Dez Bryant, another athlete for Jordan Brand, who leaked the first picture of the shoes displayed along other retros that are expected to come for Jordan releases in 2016.
Compared to their High OG counterparts, the AJ1 Low Chicago may not be taking the Internet by storm but the news that it will be up for release during the All-Star Weekend makes it one of a curiosity among fans.
Nevertheless, the Low OG Chicago Jordan sneaker stays true to its original form. That is, it remains with the same sneaker silhouette from the original one released in 1985 and it still uses the nostalgic color blocking. There’s also the neat Nike script found on the tongue with the original Jordan Wings located at the heel. The colorways are, of course, taken after MJ’s original team hence the name “Chicago” making it a vibrant mix of Varsity Red, Black, and White.
The contrasting Varsity Red and White upper of the low form Chicago provides its clean look while the rest of the black accents all throughout the shoes’ laces, Nike Swoosh, and the Wings logo on the heel makes for a perfect combination. JB also followed using white for the shoes’ base and the Nike script.
With a chopped of top, the Chicago low looks simple yet perfect enough to pair with just about anything you’d like to wear. It has the ultimate Air Jordan feel to it too given its being OG and everyone can tell its iconic origins from just one look. What’s even more notable with this pair aside from being an All-Star Weekend drop is that it will drop off exactly at Valentine’s Day. Heads up for those ladies who cannot think of a perfect gift for their man, this might just be it for you.
