When checking out Jordan releases 2016, it’s hard not to give the Air Jordan 2 Retro Alternate 87 a second look. Definitely one of the most eye-catching colorways by Nike for this year, these particular Kicks will be available on February.
Air Jordan 2 Retro Alternate 87
Style Code: 834274-001
Release Date:February 6,2016
The reason why the Alternate 87 promises to be a big hit isn’t that hard to see. The Alternate series is essentially a Jordan release of Player Exclusive colorways made accessible for the public – albeit subtly changed in specific places. These are the kicks the likes of Michael Jordan would have worn if he didn’t wear the other model which looks a lot like this one.
The Alternate 87 bears the colorway of the Chicago Bulls with the Air Jordan 2 for its silhouette. The overall design is pretty simple but unmistakable. Made up in black leather with distinctive red accents, the shoes are every bit the classic their name implies.
The red accent is found mainly on the side edges of the shoes, separating the smooth black leather and the textured black leather from each other. The tongue is equally black with the Air Jordan Wings logo proudly displayed on the center with a deep red design.
The heels are covered pretty much in red which slowly disappears to a straight line along the sides of the shoes. On the center of heels we’ve got the NIKE words in bold black, making it stand out against the red background. The soles aren’t much to talk about since they’re plain black – and so are the laces of the shoes. The lace sockets however are adorned in red, creating additional interesting accents.
Flip the shoes aside and you see a combination of red and black but not much else. Honestly, we don’t think the bottom portion is that important with the top part already something to talk about. By the way, if you’re looking for the Jumpman logo – you won’t find it on the exterior of the shoes. Nike decided to put the logo inside where your heels will rest. Of course, the Wings Logo and the NIKE letters pretty much makes the Jumpman icon redundant.
All in all, it’s a pretty down-to-earth pair of kicks that are unerringly classic in their appeal. Definitely one for the books, make sure you get a pair of Air Jordan 2 Retro Alternate 87 before they run out of stock! There are currently 3 Alternate Collections promised for this year so if you’re not feeling the 87, there is two others to choose from!
