We know – the term is usually “Red Carpet” but with the Varsity Royal, the blue carpet seems apt. Another excellent colorway added to the Air Jordan 14 Retro Low line, this particular pair has something that really catches the eye.
Air Jordan 14 Low Laney
Color:Varsity Royal/Black-Varsity Maize-White
Release Date:October 3, 2015
First things first, the Varsity Royal is couched mainly in a flawless blue design with an interesting trim of black and touches of white. There are no patterns to speak of here – the exterior of the Varsity Royal is sleek and textured, like the skin of a high-performance automobile. The colors aren’t your typical shades either which makes them really stand out from the crowd.
Sneaker News presents an incredibly clear image of the shoes and I guess the first thing everyone asks about it would be: why is the tongue sticking out? The end of the tongue – which is usually tucked inside the shoe – is standing proud and tall with the Varsity Royal. The edge is capped with a yellow rubber-like structure with the words “Jordan” in bold letters.
The trim is black and the Jumpman logo is proudly displayed on its center – but not too big that it overwhelms the overall design. The logo itself is stitched and boasts of the golden-yellow shade with a flawless finish. The soles are a combination of black and white, layered together so that the black occupies the outsole.
Along the sides where the heels typically reside, you’ve got a marble-like design with the Jumpman logo inside. We’re particularly happy with this marble-like addition because it really makes the logo pop-out. The circle itself is white with the black Jumpman managing to stand out and really grab the eye.
Aside from the yellow edging, the tongue is couched in full black and so are the laces. There’s a defined line between the body of the shoes and the eyelet, creating a straight line of blue that manages to pull off a clean and seamless look.
The heel portion is also another feature to salivate over. Instead of the typical Jumpman at the back, we’ve got a rubber-like line that runs downward with the words JORDAN done in a mixture of black and white. Hints of yellow can be seen on the soles and we’re hoping they become translucent in the dark – but no news as to that yet.
The bottom portion is clean with just black and the Jumpman logo combined. Not much to talk about – but then, the upper portion is already a work of art. The Jordan release date for this baby is on October 3, 2015
