Signature Air Jordans seems to be the lineup for this year. After Chris Paul’s signature of CP3.9 China, Jordan Brand will be releasing its new Spike Lee model called the Jordan Air Spike 40. Sneaker News confirmed that the Spike 40 Knicks Blue will soon launch following the Spizike as well as Son of Mars.
Jordan Air Spike 40
Color:Game Royal/Total Orange-White-Black
Release Date:October 14, 2015
Without a doubt, Spike Lee is considered one of the hottest celebrities when it comes to sneakerheads and having Jordan Brand make him his own brand of signature sneaker only adds to that fact. The shoe’s name is referenced after Spike’s famous production company, 40 Acres and a Mule. The pair is expected to hit the market at selected Jordan Brand stores worldwide as it finds its Jordan release date on the second week of October.
We get a first look of the Jordan Air Spike 40 by none other than Spike Lee himself when he donned the pair during WNBA’s playoff game last Tuesday, September 22, at the Madison Square Garden. Gemini Keez was the photographer who gave us a first look of the Spike 40 and helped confirmed the shoes upcoming release. But while Spike Jordan is being compared to the Spiz’ikes and Son of Mars that you may or may not have on your collection, Spike looks nothing like the Spizike Jordan.
At a closer inspection, the Jordan Air Spike 40 roughly looks like a silhouette of the Air Jordan 5 with an all-mesh upper as well as a synthetic trim that feels and looks interesting since they come in textured form. With a colorway of Game Royal, Black, White, as well as Total Orange, the pair definitely takes after the color scheme of the New York Knicks.
Up close, the mesh upper looks somewhat woven and comes in Total Orange which translates to vivid orange so it is very impossible not to notice the shoe even from afar. The glossy Game Royal accent overlays found around the shoe’s heel collar, heel, and seamless eyestay is another notable feature of the Jordan Air Spike 40. The shoe is set atop an orange midsole with white detailing and a semi translucent outsole in black color. Overall, the Spike 40 is indeed Knick-centric on its own right and has a superb and polished look to boot. It might also help to know that the shoe is designed as a high-top which is a loose version of the Air Jordan 5.
Surely, this new variant will surely make quite a buzz among enthusiasts.
