The Air Jordan 13 Retro Low Midnight Navy is definitely one of those colorways that caught the eye of the public. An excellent silhouette reinvented with clean and classic colors, it’s easy to see why the Midnight Navy sold an impressive number all over the world.
Air Jordan 13 Retro Low Midnight Navy
Color:White/Midnight Navy/Turquoise Blue/Metallic Silver
Release Date: May 1, 2015
Don’t let the name fool you – the Midnight Navy isn’t completely covered in this particular color. In fact, there’s more white than navy in the design – but it’s hard to miss the navy shade that beautifully underscores the silhouette. Suffice it to say, the clean white design puts more emphasis on the navy hue.
The trim and sides are mainly done in white with distinctive dimpling that adds texture to the overall design. A strip of navy blue can be seen running along the sides, right on top of the sole which is also navy blue, albeit a different shade and texture than the leather upper. There’s a way pattern that separates the top sole from the midsole, the midsole beautifully colored in clean white. The edging of the soles resembles a blue-green color that spans only a few centimeters in width. Thanks to the stark contrast of white however, it’s easy to spot the subtle colors used by Nike to make this model stand out.
The tongue is also done in Midnight Navy with a stitched blue-green logo of the Jump Man on the center. It’s a classic positioning technique for Nike so there’s really not much to comment on that.
The heel portion is another matter, however. Instead of the usual stitching along the back heel, there’s this small Jump Man logo done in the color black. From the pictures, it’s tough to tell whether the logo is made from leather or metal – but it’s definitely settled on top of the shoe fabric rather than embossed in the leather. The laces follow the same Midnight Navy pattern and unlike other Nike shoes, they’re circular in design rather than flat.
All in all, the, Air Jordan 13 Retro Low “Midnight Navy” colorway makes for an excellent addition to the current Air Jordan 13 line. Nike chose to go classic for this one, dispensing of the loud colors and just opting for something clean and easy with a simply yet distinctive pattern. The only loud color is the green shade at the bottom which doesn’t really say much.
This release is also available in kid’s sizing so if you’re looking for a gift for a basketball-loving kid, this is definitely an excellent option. Jordan release date for these shoes, according to Sneaker News, is early 2015.
