Who can resist everyone’s favorite Martian? The Jordan brand throws a nod to one of the most lovable cartoon characters of all time – the brilliant Marvin the Martian and Bugs Bunny’s occasional nemesis. In the Jordan Super.Fly 4 aptly named “Marvin the Martian”, Jordan gives everyone the opportunity to wear kicks that has been inspired by something out of this world.
Jordan Super.Fly 4 “Marvin the Martian”
Colorway: Black/Bright Crimson-Electric Green
Jordan Release Date: July 1 in China, Global release on the 5th of August 2015
The Kicks logically carries the color combination of Marvin of green, red, and black. It’s a fairly unique release considering how the upper portion looks like a mesh design with a layer of green and red at the bottom. These two layers of solid green and mesh black create an excellent pattern and a depth in texture that’s not available in other classic Air Jordan brands.
The midsole is clearly lined in black with the outsole kept at a deep yellow-green color that extends all the way to the bottom of the shoes. The red is mainly focused on the eye stay – and not a brilliant red at that. Instead, you get a deep, slightly faded red that looks like it’s been combined with a bit of black. The red doesn’t stand out which is a good thing since the focus of the Marvin the Martian sneakers seems to be the brilliantly green tongue and the green laces to match.
As for the ubiquitous logo, the Jump Man is placed smack in the center of the tongue, done in a deep dark red that makes it incredibly easy to notice amid the green background. The tongue is a mesh design by the way, which is a good thing since it allows the foot to breathe. Although Marvin the Martian sports the colors of sneakers meant for clubbing, it obviously has the kind of durability that will serve you well in the court.
Near the heels you’ve got the Jump Man logo again, strategically placed on the outside edge of the kicks instead of smack in the middle which is a tradition for most Air Jordan shoes.
Sneaker News notes that this is the first release for the Super Fly series. With an already exciting colorway, there’s a good chance Jordan will continue with the pattern and perhaps revisit favorite characters from the same cartoons. There’s also this incredible video release promoting the shoes featuring none other than the character who inspired the colorway. Check it out on YouTube!
