A shattered backboard is perhaps one of the most exciting events that could happen during a basketball game. Is it any wonder that the Air Jordan line decided to create something in this theme, especially since His Airiness once managed to shatter a backboard during a mouth-gaping dunk.
Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Shattered Backboard”
Release Date:June 27, 2015
The Air Jordan 1 OG “Shattered Backboard” boasts of a clean and simple colorway that captures your attention nonetheless. The design combines three different colors: white, orange, and black – the same shade that Jordan wore during the historical game.
The trim is a combination of black and orange with the soles predominantly done in clean white. The outsole however is done in orange with marked ribbings for a better floor grip. A black leather overlay covers the white along the edges of the shoe with a marked orange heel with the Wings logo on either side.
The tongue is done completely in black with the Nike Air name printed on the tip. There is also the Nike “check” mark along the sides which runs through the back heel, creating a check that circles at least half of the shoes. It’s a common theme in many Nike models today so you are probably used to it by now.
Anyway, the pictures released in Sneaker News do not show how the Air Jordan 1 OG “Shattered Backboard” back looks like, but there is a good chance there is another logo sported along the heels to follow Nike’s typical design system.
This is perhaps one of the cleanest shoes in the market today when it comes to color blending. Unlike the monochromatic releases of Nike, the Shattered Backboard does not hurt the eyes and have every chance of being a classic. This shade of orange – which usually clashes with black – actually creates a good blend and with the inclusion of white, the Air Jordan managed to pull it off quite nicely.
The Air Jordan release date for this model is set for June 27th which is not far off. According to reports, the price would be $160 which is not too bad – considering the cost of other Air Jordan brands in the market today.
Keeping in mind that the Air Jordan 1 OG “Shattered Backboard” commemorates one of Jordan’s highlight games, it is a sure bet that this shoe would not last long once it hit the shelves. If you’re feeling this pair, make sure to reserve yours now through any online store or Jordan Brand retail.
